All gar are "nasty" aggressive? Wow "learn" something new every day...

I Better tell a bunch of mine that as they seem to not be living up to that very well. I'll let them know what they should behave like and tell you how that works out in making them fit this. I'm sure they will listen well and quickly change their placid, easy going and non confrontational behavior to fit this behavior of what they should be...

Darn fish.. here I thought they where pretty much wussy pushovers which is why keeping them with other species was difficult. Now here I find out they are ALL aggressive. What the hell!!!!!!

it must be that bible you're putting on top of their tanks...it spooks them out and gives them nightmares

i have a gar and aro combo atm ... they do have there moments where the aro will bite the gar ... but my gar is quite tame and non aggressive (unless ur a goldfish) ...the gar is around 3 inchs bigger then my aro now... and he was 3 inches smaller a few months ago when i got him compared with the aro ... from my experience past and present now... it would be dependent on the personality of your fishes. My aro is king and makes sure everyone knows it. My gar is happy to play second fiddle... BUT this may change in the future so im already in the process of setting up a bigger tank if i have to seperate them. ... watch your fish and see how they react to one another

thanks xander for compiling the responses i made earlier...i like to think those were to the point as well. on top of that, i think there are plenty of other posts that said the same thing, so i don't know how the original poster did not recognize this.

that being said, it's NOT a good combo and is not recommended. go with the gar/bichir combo as suggested. on top of that, the fact that they are found with pbass in the "wild" is nothing to go on as pbass are an invasive species down there--
