florida gar

they are very mean. i catch them all the time on big lures,just throw a lure in front of one and he cant resist
gars are not "mean" they are preaditory meaning if it can fit in their mouth it is lunch. they wont go out of their way and kill somthing too big to eat.
exactly why i posted this because my ray has a couple of little nips out of his disk
I would not put it past a gar to test some food sources here and there. I would not though say they would intentionally hunt a ray as a food source.

and in my case i am greatful all three of my p-bass were able to get away when he tried to turn each of them around to swallow!!!! He leaves them alone now but they took some time healing
and they are 5" he did not care... he's 12" or 13"
Hi I keep my Florida gars with altypes of fish and Never had any problems!!! they dont evan bother my fir eel! but If you feel nervouse keep an eye on him and see!!
Probably just testing it out. There is a member on here who has at least 4 gars with his rays and he has some expensive ones. I'm sure the gar won't kill it.
i was watching my gar today and he was rubbing all over my TSN for some odd reason he wasnt nipping him he was just rubbing up against him anyone know whats going on?
