Florida trip - equipment list needed

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fishing license ( you can get it online) will cost you a bundle if the catch you without it!

List of fish permitted into your state and allowed out of ours.

Sun Block 50 or better! Ears, back of the neck, forearms and calves are the first to get it.

OFF! mosquito spray or cream (highest deet level you can find)
Poncho

Two pair of comfortable polarized sunglasses.

Digital camera with lots of film and batteries! Tripod too!

Golf shoes (cleats so you don't slip on the shore). :D

Very, very warm weather clothing.

Water shoes (or old sneakers).

Wide brimmed hat, never mind the baseball cap unless thats what your doing :D.
Light tackle, aerated bait buckets (lots of batteries, I adapted mine to run off of cigar lighter and/or external source) and small nets.

Dip net, cast net (you have to be careful with these...if the game warden thinks your trying to catch full size fish it's really going to cost you big).

midnight's transporter is good, float a piece of styrofoam just a little smaller than the top to help suppress splashing, If your transports small fish wave baffles to divide the tank up will help alot too.

Consider using purigen in a flo-tru filter like midnight made (pvc pipe with connector on each end) in the transporter for the trip back (works great for a couple day trip with W/C's).

Small first aide kit for stuck hooks & fish fins (peroxide too).

Fish Alligator Alley and Us 41 from Naples to Miami.

Miami area too? Maps of the canals. (online)

If you are fishing unpopulated areas you should have a friend with you, then one of you will see the gator or snake sneaking up on you (experience talking here).

Must read: http://myfwc.com/fishing/rules.html some types of fishing are illegal or restricted and NO spear fishing!

.

For the Naples to Miami part make sure to take with you lots of time. You will need at least a month to cover that distance while fishing.

As for catch and release, practice is not really needed. The fish here are genetically engineered and programmed to do that by themselves.
