I'm heading out to Kissimmee next week and was just wondering if there is any lakes/canals in the area where I can catch Cichlids!

Lake Toho?
Okeechobee?

Quite a bit further down south. Oscars in the Everglades area, Red devils in Black Creek idk where it is exactly. Okeechobee has Mayans, there's rumored to be Jags in the West Palm beach area. I never seen anyone or know anyone who caught one, might be a myth.

That's about all I know. Hope it helps!

Thanks! I know, more south would have been a better location lol. So know P bass in Okeechobee?

I'm pretty sure there is. Only thing I've personally caught was Oscars, we pulled off the side of the road for a break and decided to fish. Lol I know a few people that collect down there. So, I don't know exact locations. I'll try to find out some more info for you.

I don't know of any cichlid spots as far north as Kissimmee. That puts you in central Florida. Most of the cichlids are in the canals down south -- Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, West Palm, etc.

Nice pics Duane! Last time I was down there I stayed in Siesta keys and drove down past the everglades and the Canals. Wish I had a rod with me as I could see loads of Mayan or tilapia looking species right by the banks.
Maybe I will take a drive down 75 again!

Gary those look really cool! I will have to see where I could find some. Maybe in drainages or lake toho?

Good luck and be sure to share pics of your catch. Awesome catching Cichlids, here are a couple pics to get you in the mood.(sorry Texasnot Florida)
