Florida is like every other state, except it is flat and made of sand. Don't worry about the rednecks though. You can buy some redneck repellant at Walmart as soon as you cross the border. They sell a stronger formula in Georgia and Alabama though. I sprayed some inside a Walmart one time and the whole store exploded.
It is said that Disney is a requirement, but unless you are between the ages of 6-10 it will be a dissappointment. If rollercoasters are your thing, stop in at Universal Studios Island of Adventure (let me know cuz I'll tag along).
Ugly Stick makes a rod and reel set that breaks down into four peices for impromptu fishing. My friend and I take them camping with us. They are light weight and fourty bucks.
Orlando is relatively boring (maybe because I have to look at it all the time), but stop in at St. Augustine, Daytona, NASA (North Merritt Island), Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and the Keys.
St. Augustine is the oldest city in the U.S. and also has the two oldest standing forts. Castillo de San Marcos is the main fort that was built by Spain. The entrance fee is five or six dollars. Fort Matanzas is an outpost fort of the Castillo and is free. Both are worth seeing. You can spend a full day at St. Augustine and not see everything.
On the way to Florida, take the time to stop in at Charleston, S.C. It is several hours off of I-95 but well worth it. Fort Sumpter is in Charleston Harbor and is where the Civil War started. There is also a military museum at the harbor that has several retired ships that you are free to explore. There is an old aircraft carrier with planes and a submarine.
