I'm getting a pair of Florida wild salvini cichlids. My question is, I plan to breed the pair, would I consider them f0 or is there something different to call them? I don't wanna say the fry are f1 if they are not. Guess I would just say the collection point lol. Also what should I expect from the fish. Are they gonna grow larger like wild fish or settle down in the tank? Any info would be great.

Only truly wild fish are F0. You can call them F0 Florida caught.

I have not heard of Salvini being wild in Florida - it may just be a marketing ploy. There's no difference between Salvinis, if they are not truly wild. You might as well buy some local.

prawrn is right they are not native to fl even if the breeder is breeding the in and out side pond witch to me sounds like what he is doing still not wc. even if parents are wc and put in the outside pond to breed the fry will not be F0 they will still be considerded F1 so like pawn said you might as well buy local

They ARE NOT f0 or f1. These fish were likely released by the owner witch makes them feral and no different from lfs sals. Witch is probably where they came from.

They are truly wild caught from a canal in south Florida. The lady said she gets them all the time fishing. As soon as she gets a pretty pair she is gonna send me some. All I pay is shipping. She is not a seller or a breeder. There is Oscar tilapia Mayan and other cichlids and hybrids living just 3 miles from her house. Figure this would help me and Florida put as I can't get them local and they need to get them out of the waters down there.

Just cause they come from a canal doesn't make them f0. Just like feral oscars from down there are considered wild feral oscars not f0s. The way it sounds someone released a bunch of store bought fish in the canal after they got tired of them.

I caught some in October in the tamiami canal system that had better colors than some that I caught in various places in Central America....

When it comes to cichlids, FL is just one big fish tank. Nothing pulled should be described as "wild", just simply "tank raised."
