Floting bio balls

Better yet, why not dump a liter of SeaChems Matrix in the tank.
 
they probably are just cleaning it, they just made up some reason. lol!
 
Nitrifying bacteria prefer darkness for optimal growth. having bioballs floating on the water surface means more light as well as algal growth which would suppress nitrifying bacteria specifically and bacterial growth generally. I personally don´t see any advantage to to floating bioballs

I've seen it in pictures that were posted but I don't think I'll be doing it anytime soon.
