flourish excel??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was hoping to try some Excel for my planted tank, but all I can find locally is Flourish. So, from my understanding it supplies a ton of nutrients for the plants but doesn't also provide the carbon benefit. Anybody use this product? I went ahead and bought it so today is my first day trying it, but I'm debating whether I should go ahead and order the Excel from Fosters&Smith or if this, plus a DIY CO2 system would be enough.

Thanks!

Excel is better by no question.

But the Flourish is a good one to use also.
Flourish excel without nutrients will do nothing. A balance is needed, one without the other is like making lemonade without sugar.

If I where to use excel but have a pleco that produces mass amount of waste for the nutrients would it work out okay or do plant's need more than fish poo lol??

You need to have a good balance of nutrients, as plecos only will crank out phosphates (dependent on the food) an primarily nitrogen.

So, if I'm understanding right, maybe the ideal solution is to use BOTH the Flourish and the Flourish Excel?

Man, this planted aquarium thing is really addictive!!!! :D

The ideal, is to have a balance level of all nutrients. This would require dosing the flourish excel, flourish iron, flourish potassium, flourish nitrogen, flourish phosphorus, flourish trace, flourish and flourish tabs to keep all your plants at optimum growth.
