Root tabs are higher in nitrogen, and phosphorus, but lower in potassium. There are other subtle differences, but they are less important. Also, liquid ferts are better for column feeders, such as Ludwigia sp., and Rotala sp. Root tabs are better for your root feeders, such as Echinodorus sp., Anubias sp., and Cryptocoryne sp.
