I have a FX5 filter in a 46gal bowfront and the flow keeps moving the rocks around on the bottom creating spots that are bare.

How would you guys fix this problem?

position the spray bar or outlet lower in the tank, then point it towards the surface.

I don't have an FX5, but my Fluval 405 can be adjusted to slow down its flow... Perhaps you can with the FX5 as well? I mean, you have it on a 46 gal...;)

^ Yup. Adjust the outlet so it doesn't hit the substrate so hard.

thats weird its moving substrate if pointed up, I'm assuming your substrate is gravel since you said rocks. Are you sure its the flow and you dont have a burrower or a nester?

You can control the flow on the valve where the hose connects to the can.

sounds more like the op has a burrowing fishy, if the spray bar is pointed up then it shouldnt affect the substrate

Its not a spray bar just two nozzles. I do have a few fish that like to poke there heads in, but I've seen the gravel (sorry I said rocks before) moving due to current :P

I'm going to reduce the flow and move the nozzles down lower in the tank.
