flower horn humps

As I understand it the "kok" also responds to aggression that prompts growth; i.e. keeping a divider between two flowerhorn and have them getting ticked off at each other. I'll double check with Chinese breeders and hobbyists here in Vancouver, B.C. at the next Aquarium Society meetiing. They get extremely serious about Flowerhorn here!

usually you will keep a flowerhorn with a blood parrot or maybe another flowerhorn and if he feels dominant his kok will grow and his colors will improve or you can just use a mirror.

like bazinga said its all genetic. even a small flowerhorn with good genes will start to get a good size kok. i just bought a 3 incher and he has a kok the size of grape already.
 
Thanks everyone! the one i bought are about 2 inches. Unfortunatly one killed the other after just one day! I thought they would be ok since they are both being introduced to a 110gal tank at the same time... Guess not! One of them had beautiful markings already. i hope the one that is left goes into itself! lol I will try to post some pics tomorrow. The little fella is in there with the other monster, including 2 parrots that are not very big. (see my page album). he does not bother anyone and they do not bother him. Although I did find a new home for the TSN.....he was 17 INCHES! he looked a lot smaller from in the tank. I was estimating he was only 13 inches.
 
okay,somethings funny here???? I use chingmix and grand sumo,plus extra treats and hikari bio too. I also hear some feed earthworms, need to try that next
 
Yes, they LOVE earthworms. They just gobble them up like spaghetti.
