FLOWER HORNS

I dont know how this thread got to talking about the UFC exactly but not to derial the heavy weight UFC champ Tim Sylvia is from my town, I see him out and about quite often allthough I'm personally not a UFC fan, but his funny looking self sure manages to pull the females just because..

My flowerhorns have been breeding for about 2 1/2 years. They do it on their own, with little intrusion on my part. The thing is, they will breed like crazy for several months and then they just stop. Good Luck!

i was reading something today that said due to the creation process of the fish most males are sterile.

its possible that your flowerhorn isn't really a male. alot of female FH are fed hormons to give them male attributes, increasing there value.

Keep trying and try different pairs if space permits.

There are plenty of people that say that it is easy but I have never seen their fry. It is hard to find 2 that don't want to kill each other.

2 doesn't always make a pair but stick with it.

Some strains are more prone to sterility than others. My advice would be to post a few pictures in the hybrid section and get a positive ID on what type it actually is. Are the fish seperated completely during spawning? Put whatever the female lays the eggs on, put it right against the divider and place a powerhead on the males side blowing towards the spawn site.
