First things first, can a 6' by 6' by 3' tank with good ray caliber filtration house 5 rays?

Real question is, would you (assuming you had prior ray experience) get a flower or jaguar ray? If my tank can support 5 rays, I want to get a pair of motoros, and a pair of either jags or flowers, and for the remaining ray, I'd get a female of the species I didn't choose to have a pair of. I can't decide which species I want to have a pair of. Jaguar or flower? A pros and cons list would also be nice.

The cons of jag and flower female is they get insanely big like 35" plus flowers maybe bigger. Males may stay under 30".
Flowers are very weak rays if stressed they don't last like other ray species, often the only way youl have success is raising the flower in a seperate tank for a few years until its eating very hard and big.
Flower con .... Another thing is the mortality of flowers is retarded not many ppl have one in captivity longer than 2 years

Jags no real cons except size. They are a great community ray and super easy to keep.
I'd go with a nice jag

I'd try just flowers and no jag.
Flowers are the nicest ray but very hard to get good ones

Lol haha

Yah that's exactly what I'm saying. Jags will not easily be kept with flowers. Personally I'd buy all flowers, but if it's your first rays buy the jags.

Well, my first rays are going to be the motoros. For sure. Then, I think I'll go with another pair of flowers, and when they are larger, strong, and eating well, I'll make the decision on whether or not it'd be worth it to try a small jag.

I wouldnt recommend the Flowers personally. You would have to have a divider in the tank till they are quite large. Motoros will stress them quick. That is if they live that long. Flowers are beautiful but very hard to keep. If going with flowers, I would say get flowers only as a species tank. Seems Flowers and Tigers go well together, but they get big. 6x6 would be fine for them. If you must get Motoros, I highly recommend the Jag. Much tougher than Flowers. Good luck whichever way you decide.

Loving how this thread is staying positive unlike a lot of others these days. Do you think if I divided a good amount of the tank to the flowers so that they'd be able to grow and then introduce them? Also, how much do tigers usually go for?
