Flower or jag?

Flowers are challenging no matter how you spin it unless they are kept by themselves. If you want to mix flowers with other rays make sure the flowers are the larger of the rays. Flowers are high energy and need to eat a lot to keep from getting skinny but they are also slow eaters so they miss out on a lot of food because other rays will eat it all before they get to it. I have owned both and would recommend jags or other castexi type rays. Ultimately it is up to you on how much of a challenge you want. A 6x6 would only house 3 adults but you could put 5 smaller ones in there. Tiger prices range from around $600 to $1000

Well, I'm up for a challenging ray, after I manage to keep easy ones, and have plenty of time to devote to hand feeding if the flowers need that much. I've heard that flowers are generally stable and good eaters, once you, well, stabilize them. But that's hard. Is that true?

First things first, can a 6' by 6' by 3' tank with good ray caliber filtration house 5 rays?

Real question is, would you (assuming you had prior ray experience) get a flower or jaguar ray? If my tank can support 5 rays, I want to get a pair of motoros, and a pair of either jags or flowers, and for the remaining ray, I'd get a female of the species I didn't choose to have a pair of. I can't decide which species I want to have a pair of. Jaguar or flower? A pros and cons list would also be nice.

well i have 5 large rays in a 8x6x3 and it looks packed so if the tank you stated is for flower or jags then i would say its to small for 5 rays

Flowers are generally only available once a year and range from $350 on up. So if you get some and they die a couple of months down the road then you have to wait almost a year to replace them. Just something else to think about.
