You might be able to squeeze a full grown male into a 60, but I'd go 90. That way you can breed him in there if you find a suitable female.

you could keep a grown up in a 55 for life, but its just alot better for you and the fish if you can afford and have room for a 75 =)
Get a female and breed it with a parrot cichlid, then breed those with convict cichlids

i had a 6 inch in a 20 for 4-5 yrs lol. that was when i was a noob. its ok up to some time but the fish doesnt show its full potential when its in a small place.
mine was in a 10g until he was about 5"...which too him about 4 months to get to, then went in to a 125
