so i just got a new blood parrot and my flowerhorn and her seem to be really close and i think they mite mate so what should i do? ( i put her in my tank for not even a day and they look like love at first site ) sorry no pic just yet and the owner before me said she layed eggs but his flowerhorn ate the eggs

Try it! If you want the babies? Some of the others have done it with success and also turned out good! If you could post pix of the "parents" it would help for some to determine if theyd be good.

o ok its my first time doing it so i dont reallly know wat to do so i was wondering if anyone cant give me steps on what to do? thanks

Creepy lookin flowerhorn! Looks like someone grabbed his tail and head and stretched him out! Nice head and colors though, he looks deformed, so his fry shouldn't look like that, especially x BP. If they're being friendly with each other, just let em go at it. After the eggs hatch, take the male out. At least that's how I do it.

I like him! Super cherry reds! As for breeding. Never did it on purpose, with fish! LOL

But I hear its best to have a small tank so when the eggs are hatched to fry you need to scoop them out from the parents and into the small tank to be alone. Heat should be around 82ish, feed "fry" food (looks like a powder), and water changes every day or every other day. Feed often! They will grow fast!!

Best of luck!

let them go at it if they will. the resulting fry are actually pretty cool fish. there sold in fish stores as either killin or kirin parrots.

i have one myself, and it has the body shape of the parrot yet the marks of a FH, and is able to close its mouth fully. mine is quite docile, likes to hide a good part of the time, and never bothers anything.
