flowerhorn & Arowanna????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There are many here on MFK with successful aro/fh combinations. A few good rule of thumb to follow regarding silver/black aros. Following these will minimize problems.

Don't mix the aros with cichlids until the aro is about 10" long.
The aro should be 2x the length of the cichlid.
Keep the aros in a tank that has a length 3x that of the aro and a width/depth equal to that of the aro.
Aros grow very quickly so plan on having a much larger tank ready to go as there is no 120g suitable for keeping an adult arowana.

This might be what you might find interesting....

I keep 2 silver arowana with 3 flowerhorn.. not by choice.. but simply.. space issue... in a 150gallon...

No deaths so far.. Flowerhorns are either at 6" or 4" all females however..
that is probably the case...

The females fight with themselves... and in turn leave my two silver arowana alone.....

I actually want to get rid of my flowerhorns but never got around to it... In time i will...... I also have two Giant Oscar at 8" they are both males.. and fight with each other all the time...

So it will work if u have a 6ft long tank.. gives them plenty of room to swim and escape around...

but Flowerhorns are a pain in the ass.....

theres a link to my tank.. on youtube...
