sorry i was watching the 70's show :/

That indeed is a breeding ritual which can lead to death. RUN PUT A DIVIDER BETWEEN THEM!!! lol I usually put a divider between a male and female until their urge to lock jaws subsides. I have had luck in the past with the breeding rituals without a divider but I also have had my share of losses. The female can be quiet aggressive and requires a larger male who can put her in her place. Good Luck.

I agree man that male is a bit small, he just wants to breed , and that female looks like she just wants to infect damage right now! They might need a bit more room and that bicker out of there. You might even need to add a breeding pot or surface to persuade those two into it?

well im getting a 180 this weekend. and he is dominant of her he chases her most of the time. They are swimming together now with no agression from either of them. Thanks for your responses guys

friendly advise bro, your male is not ready to breed yet.he's still young and smaller than the female you have.wait awhile when your male gets bigger.

as longanza says /

grow out your male until hes bigger than the female.

then try again using a clear divider letting them see each other and get used to each other, you will get an idea of if they get along. and when the female is ready to nearly lay eggs she will sharpen up, her breeding tube will be poking out her butt, then remove the divider for a few minutes and if hell breaks loose then separate them again.

not all fish get along, but ive heard from an expert that you can get some med size parrots and put them all together so they serve the purpose of being chased and for natural selection to take place.

good luck halo. ;)

Thanks dave i have heard the same thing about parrots but no way in heck ima get a parrot just for that purpose parrots in my area run for 30 bucks a piece and not even kkp ordinary blood parrots :/ maybe a 25 cent feeder gold fish they are like 3-4 inches at petco :)

i hope this time you have separated them lest one of them will die.

by the way, what's that flagtail doing in there? please get that out too or your FH will kill it

Silver i dont have a flag tail. I have polys in there and the flowerhorns dont bother them. and the flowerhorns are still seperated i havent tried uniting them. i will put them together once i get my 180 gal.
