I'm going to attempt to breed my flowerhorns again but need some advice. In my previous spawning, I lost a lot of fry by spooking the parents. Fortunately, I was able to keep 5. It has been about 6-7 months since the fry have been born and they are only about 1"-1 1/2". Is that the normal growth rate or am I doing something wrong? What should they be fed to increase the quality of their appearance and a speedy growth rate?

dude., that aint normal., 6-7 months should be atleast 5-8 inches long.,

female is to big for the male male should be bigger all the time. the female tests the male strength and has to pass the test or she will just probably kill him. wait until he's bigger.

don't forget to have water change every 2 days if possible. The more the better so they can growth faster. Also give them room to grow too. I been switching from 10g to 25g to 75g and now the 75g is pack. Need to transfer them again soon. Just feed them as much as you can and don't worry about over feed, as you know fry and young fish can digest food a lot faster then adult so the more you feed the more they grow. But water change is very important on grow rate as well.

i will not try to breed them. she will kill your male man. females are very aggressive during breeding. some breeders use dividres but i dont know how they do it so the eggs still get fertilized. i hope someone more experienced will help
