A lot of flowerhorns can successfully breed at 2.5". Getting them to do it is another story. Pairing a male flowerhorn with a female is a lot tougher than it sounds.

What? 2.5"? When did you see a 2.5" male and female breeding? :nilly:

I bred a 3" male red dragon with a 3" female trimac about a year ago. I didn't raise any of the fry because I sold the pair a few days after the eggs hatched and the female ate them after that. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=287020

Oh, thats cheating. Red Dragon are by far the fastest to mature for breeding and the easiest to get to breed in my opinion.

I mated a 7inch golden monkey with about a 2.5 inch kamaulu. I made the mistake of moving some decorations around and the male killed her and ate the eggs... Foolish mistake on my part

GM and kamalau is the same. Keep that in mind. GM would just be the english translation of kamalau.

None of them are easy to breed in my opinion. From purebred cichlids to flowerhorns most can spawn at 2.5-3" in the right conditions. I've seen so many small pairs of cichlids on this site produce fry it's ridiculous but not impossible. It's not uncommon to see breeding pairs of parachromis or amphilophus fish at 3" but when people see flowerhorns breeding that small they're always surprised. Flowerhorns are only more difficult to breed due to their fertility rates and the fact that it is so hard to pair them because of their aggression.
