flowerhorn community?

i currently have a zz rd with 4 blood parrots happily together

i tried and succeeded in keeping 'em alive for almost 5-6 months, but it was like, although i won the battle i lost the war, as not even one of them will have any great colors or fins due to the constant aggression, and squabbles
it will just be another cichlid tank
i grew one jing kang and one kamalau and a zz and 3 cuban cichlids from 1.5" to 5"+ in the same tank, just couldn't go on. ended up stunting one of the cubans as well
separated all of 'em in the end and then they started showing better colors and better growth as well

after a load of fish being attacked and killed by flowerhorn i descided to ask my local pet shop to see what fish goes with my flowerhorn and then they said that if i get a cichlid the same size as my flowerhorn they will live, so i did. guess what. IT WORKS!!=D
They seem fine with other cichlids a simular size, in a reasonable size tank, otherwise its not worth botherin !
it will greatly depend on the size of tank you have. also remember a single specimen tank will bring out the fullest potential.

It works fine! i had a 9" male and 2 7" females in a community that included cons, fire mouths, jD, Parrots, severum, rainbows, midas,and hondurans.... they did awesome together... they lived in harmony for just over a year and i had the FH spawn several times in the tank. There was little aggression as i had the tank well planted with plastic plants and also provided each large fish with a flowerpot or hollow log to hide in.... mind you my tank was a 75...not all that big.... thats why i sold my FH to woodpro1102.... my zz's were super docile....go for it but start with young fish at about 2" and add the others when they are about the same size or slightly larger.... it will work...go for it!
