Need to know which brand of food such as XO humpyhead, grand sumo, Okiko head up, Chingmix maxima or headbooster, etc, would be best for my flowerhorn to have colors and hump. I am already feeding it hikari cichlid gold (color enhancing pellets), but i dont see much results. I have heard these enhancing foods shorten the life span of a flowerhorn. I need advice on whether or not it is a good idea to feed my flowerhorn these types of enhancement foods. Thank you,

I have been having great results with okikio platinum. But many have said it hasn't done crap to their fh. It's more of a hit or miss. Try a couple foods out but only feed it three times a week alternating every other day once a day. I wouldn't feed it as a stable. There hormone/protein packed and it could shorten the life of your fh. Feeding it a 3 times a week will allow good digestion and still get the "enhancements".

A food additive I recommend is power pink plus. I have never personally tried it but nearly 85% of all people I know who has tried it has said it did wonders. Some of the foods that they have tried it with is hikari http://www.hikari.info/tropical/t_06.html (good stable too)
okiko platinum can be found on ebay (Working great for me currently)
grand sumo found on amazon or ebay (Didn't do much for me but friends have had good results)
xox humpy head ebay (Worked decently for all my friends including myself)
alife petzonesd.com (I recommend this one, I have had great results)
new life spectrum (which is my favorite because its a stable food)

Here's a video of how to mix power pink plus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DoV25_S2ac

But it's 90% genes and 10% water quality, food, lighting, etc. So don't worry about the food to much, just feed the fh for the health of it and if it has good genes it will blossom regardless.

You have to watch out buying fh food on ebay. There are fake knockoffs of the popular fh brands labeled and packaged to look authentic. Grand Sumo use to have a section on their web page telling how to tell the difference.

I don't buy food from ebay but I do know of atleast 2 legit sellers so I'm not saying they all aren't authentic.

^ That is true watch out and look at the feed back of the fh foods they have and you can decide if there knock offs from there.

I will be feeding red parrot food pellets. Along with other non pellet goodies

try grand osaki.i believe it doesnt have any hormones and there has been alot of people who seen results on it.i have it and it works great as a staple as well

ok cool. im planning on doing a schedule like this: 4 days a week of "veggie pellets" like hikari excel, 3 days a week of "enhancers" like humpy head, chingmix, etc, 2 days fasting, and then 2 days of just staple/regular pellets like new life spectrum or something. then repeat. Now i just need to decide where in this schedule can i fit the occasional, high protein bloodworms/ brine shrimp foods.. any suggestions? and is this schedule a good one? i found it from a flowerhorn expert guide on a different flowerhorn forum, called flowerhorn craze.

@jerseybrian can u give me some reliable sources from ebay to buy? i was deciding on that today lol but i didnt trust ebay as much. Also, i need some reliable websites where i can order these enhancer foods, i was thinking petzonesd, maybe the official site of chingmix :chingmixusa, maybe amazon, drfoster, etc?

They are all a scam i bought £50 worth of Okiko products a few months ago, still have tons of it left and it actually made my Flowerhorn duller!
