Hi guys!

So my SRD Flowerhorn has seem to gone dark after I transfered him to his new larger home. It has been a month since I moved him and the parameters are prefect so its NOT stress. The new tank is a lot darker than the old one (see pics) so is that what it is? Or is it that sometimes flowerhorns get darker as they get larger? Either way, any ideas on lightening up, as he used to be alot more good looking! See pics below. Thanks in advance!

Could be that it is starting to fade. Also though it could be because of the darker gravel. As I have one jack with mixed white and blue gravel and his colors are great but then I have another with yellow gravel and it is washed out. But in the past I've notice my flowerhorns look better on black gravel.

Thanks man, dont think its fading though, as you see in the first pick he has all his pearling

hey man you might want to take a better picture of him so we can really tell whats wrong with him :D

What you mean? I think the pics are pretty good? I just trying to talk about how he got darker? Cant see the difference between the light and dark in the pics?

You said water parameters are perfect...hope that includes water temp cuz they tend to get darker in colder water. The guy in my avatar has similar color & pearls to yours and my gravel is of natural stones which are rather dark but did not make him dark.

If it's not the water temp, best way to resolve this is to change out your gravel.
