Flowerhorn gone DARK?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your own experience with flowerhorn? Thanks man, you think pool filter sand would work ok? Or should I just do white gravel?
Yup! as long as it's light in colour then your FH will get back to its majestic colour. Btw heard some people said that brown or a mixture of white and brown gravel works best. But i'm sticking with white ATM :headbang2

You said water parameters are perfect...hope that includes water temp cuz they tend to get darker in colder water. The guy in my avatar has similar color & pearls to yours and my gravel is of natural stones which are rather dark but did not make him dark.

If it's not the water temp, best way to resolve this is to change out your gravel.

Water temp is at 85F. Thats what the breeder kept all his at, and what I found in research I should keep mine at. Do you concur with this?

ok...I'll go with that. I try to maintain mine at 86F. Close enough. Hhmmm...must be the dark gravel then. Change out the gravel to lighter ones...I'm curious what the affects will be.
