it's not irrelevant when both fish's temperament is aggressive and inclined to fight :D

but I agree with the rest of what you said, if a Midas were introduced to a FH tank, the situation miight well have been reversed . . .

i wasn't saying it was irrelevant. the other poster was pretty much making it seems flowerhorns were passive.

Thanks everyone. I'm aware that the fh and red devil was not such a great mix but in the tank I put it in it was successful before. Shouldbi do daily water changes. With the filter it has media from another tank.

Well thats good, the established filter media will help. I would still keep an eye on the water parameters. Small, frequent water changes will help keep your water in line, weather or not they will need to be daily will depend on how big your fish is, which I do not beleive you have mentioned.

Also, in regards to the original question.. How big is the tank you tried adding the FH to?

The tank I tried to add him to is a 180 gallon tank. The flowerhorn is about 5 inchs and red devil/midas are about 7-9 inchs. Until I get a new heater the water is at 80 degrees that should be okay right?

He's swimming around chasing his reflection Hoping thats a good sign but have not ate anything yet since I moved him into this 29 gallon.

damn nice FH, Kamfa or kamalau?? You can never tell they name these things whatever they want to. He looks like he should have no problem recovering, he got torn up pretty good. As long as most those wounds are only skin deep he should heal up. The melafix should help prevent some scaring. Do the full seven day treatment with no carbon. I think its seven days straight with a 25% change upon completion. Try to get him eating, maybe some finicky fish formula's or a garlic flavor enhancer will jump start his appetite. Also you can try some live like earthworm, but stay away from feeder fish, market shrimp washed in tank water is also a good option.

Your temp should be fine as long as it holds at 80.

Keep us posted man he is a very nice fish

Had to go to work didn't look like he was doing too well this morning. Worried about him at work I have my girl watchin him now he was on his side this morning.

Kind of the same thing happen to me with my Flowerhorn but this was with a Dovii I was able to put him in QT and treat him and now he is back and running the tank Minus the Dovii.

Good Luck

The seller told me it is a kamaulau. Thanks for all the support I really hope He recovers. He's been swimming around a bit more this last day. But have not ate anything yet. Any tips or advice on that?

I sort of had the same issue except in reverse. My RD got his azz whooped by my tex/flowerhorn hybrid. Everything was all good for about 3 months. The RD would chase around the tex/fh sometimes but they never really squared off. Well I guess he got tired of the RD starting ish and man it looks like he went ballistic on his azz. I mean he messed him up really bad. One day all seemed well then I went to them the next day and found the RD trapped under one of the rocks that had fell. I thought he was dead for sure. Removed him and have him in a 29 gallon hospital for the time being. Don't have the $ for a new tank right now but a friend does have a 55 gallon I can have. Unfortunately I have to travel 3 hrs to pick it up. RD is about 5.5" and the hybrid is probably around 7". They were housed in a 180 gallon along with a 4" JD and a 3.5" mayan. The smaller two sometimes have issues with each other but never with the tex or the RD. Hope this guy heals up cause he was so pretty before getting beat down. Will try to get some pix up later.
