catch the fish flip it upside down looks at the anal gland

if it resembles V its a female and if its a U the its a male. to make things easier.

O female. or it maybe the opposite. if its about 3 inches then it should be easier to tell.

males have longer dorsal fin and female has a rounder dorsal fin. so by the picture it may be a female but i can be wrong.

That is not accurate for my knowledge with FH. Even though they are made up of cichlids, it doesn't mean they can be identify the same way as cichlids. FH identification falls into a whole different setting compare to SA/CA cichlids. I see tons of FH both female and male with long dorsal fin out there.

Same goes for koks, you can find female with huge koks. No joke intended. Mine doesn't have any black spots on its dorsal either.

yup its rare to see a female with big kok.

I could see mine not growing a big or even a reasonable size kok because you can't get quality fish or at least Flowerhorn in Oregon without ordering them from somewhere else. We have maybe 5 local stores worth going to and only 2-3 will have good fish.
