This is the scenario: a few weeks ago a weird pattern of weather and temperature change occurred in the Philippines due to the almost continuous coming of multiple storms. There were days when the night and mornings are very cold and afternoons very warm. Then suddenly one day i spot my FH swimming slowly on his side. He was breathing heavily so i transferred him in our guppy pond which is planted, has aerator and filter system. The pond is big so i don't think it's a bad idea. I had him placed in a plastic cage to protect him from some of my goldfish. I don't know what medication to use and i am not a real fan of medications. I believe that with perfect water condition a fish can heal. But there are exemptions.

It's already been almost a month and i think he hasn't eaten anything(i doubt that he can catch those guppies). He swims for a few seconds then stops to rest. I am afraid he might die from starvation...

The event above has happened to some of my friends' FH too. Some have already died!

I haven't introduced any foreign object to him. Except for some chicken fillet. All the rest are just pellets. Its real sad for me because he has great personality. :/

Oh well, i just hope he recover... Will try metro tomorrow... what dosage of metro do you recommend on a 40gal hospital tank?

Btw, i am a great fan of your fishies. Very good job on all yer fish. :)

Bump, other inputs?

bump, anyone?

Nope. It's resting on it's side on the bottom. Anyone know the dosage of metro for aquaria?

Okay here's an update on my FH.

He's started eating superworms and guppies so i am no longer worried about him dying of starvation. He started swimming in his hospital tank. Water change is every other day.

The only thing i am worried about is that his body hasn't returned to its normal form yet. Its still bent, i think something got into his spine or his muscles. But his fins and tail fin are totally moving. He can already hunt live food... and yes, he still rests on his side because he can't swim normally. He is no longer stressed because his colors are already back to his normal coloring.

anyone know any cure?

Bro there could be many factors to why your fish is sick. #1 seems like a parasite issue. #2 What size tank was he in before you moved him to your pond? #3 Bad weather and storms dont mix, especially with flowerhorns. I lost a $700 flowerhorn to "ich"... ICH bro, because the weather was weird and he had a hard time recovering from it. So sad, anyway please post pictures so that I may further assist you in this matter.
