Well if I was to pick one out would I pick ones showing signs of a "kok" as I believe it is called? How would I pick one out? The LPS has about two dozen or so for sale and I can get them for a decent price.

Look for the biggest, most colorful one in the batch.

Also just how big do they get? Do they breed true?

Depends on the flowerhorn.

I am thinking of trading in my JD which is in a 55 by itself. And am wondering if I would need a larger tank or not.

14-16" but 12" probably more common. It also depends on body type, I have one that will probably never get bigger than 8".

hi chris. i see you have a few short bodied FHs. where do you get yours at. i live in oregon also. Also, I have a couple of short bodied cons. they are funny little fish, I can only imagine how those FHs are. lol
