True. It is probably just that I'm cheap and don't like droping a ton of cash at one time. The male is kinda pricey, but I wanted to start out with something descent that I like.

both looks great. The juvie FH you showed me through PM have potential, but won't go near this one in quality when it gets this size. Female looks great as well.
I wouldn't just go about breeding right away, The male looks a little skinny and needs some TLC. I would pump him up first then try breeding.

I just picked him up a few hours ago. You were right, it was a huge benefit going right to the breeder/importer. He had a lot of great information. The flowerhorn looked much better in person. I'm guessing that the flash from the camera made him somewhat dull. I really think its best to see the fish in person. None of the fish looked like their picture. Some looked better in person and others looked worse. I can see how it can be hella tough to pick out the right one, especially with only a photo to go off of. This guys head was friggin huge. Looked like he was hit on the forehead with a 2 by 4. Thanks for all of the great tips.

Yeah I didn't get the female. I figured that I would give him a while and then pick out a good female. I took some video of him, but he is extremely washed out. Probably since he was just put into the tank. One thing that I'm not crazy about on him is that his hump is virtually clear. Almost like water. No color too it like he has on the rest of his body.

Trying to upload a video to Youtube, but taking for ever. Yeah hopefully you can get a better idea of his potential. I measured him just before I put him into the tank and he is just over 7". I was very suprised how small he actually was when I went to pick him up. He looks alot bigger in the pictures and on video. Not sure why though. Hope his head gets bigger, but my guess will be no. I't doesn't matter, I guess, I really like the fishes personality. He has only been in the tank for an hour or so and he thinks he is the king of the world.
