Flowerhorn loosing its color

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've added a baby blue background I've seen many flowerhorn keepers use on their tanks. I also did a water change on the tank and added aquarium salt. I'm going to give it a few days and see if there is any change. Such a drastic change in appearance with good water quality is a little alarming. :/

Not diet related, and doubtful that a 50% water change would have any effect, especially long term. I perform a 70% water change (water temp is the same) every 5-7 days and it has no effect whatsoever on my FH's color, hump size, etc. (10-11" adult)

Possibly just stress related, or there could be an underlying health issue.

I added a blue background and didn't see a change, I checked the water again and it was wonderful, nitrates under 5ppm. I spoke to the guy I got her from and he said she was raised in a divided tank with other Flowerhorns, so I decided to get a mirror out and see if anything changed.... Once I put the mirror next to the tank she looked like a whole new fish!!! Attached is a pic.
