Okay so I posted my new flowerhorn maybe about a month ago? And we weren't really sure if it was a male or female on the thread. So I wanted to show how he's looking now and see what everyone's opinion is. I'm going male lol

Okay so right away you have a cool fish. It is a double row which is nice and has nice color and nice kok. The black on the dorsal fin most of the time is a female but considering it has a nice kok body shape and papilla is very strong indicator of a male. I would classify this as a male. It is very nice fish.

Thank you! I'm feeding it humpy head and red right now. I'm praying it's a male because it's beautiful like you said

Female all the way. But still more beautiful then my male FH lol. Keep her and breed her. The splotch on dorsal fin and if you look at the papila the second pic it has the stumpy, curved forward look that female tube portrays. Beautiful specimen.

Whys there such a big head on her then? Lol and I don't know much about breeding these guys.

Pull the fish out and vent it. Take close up pics of the vent and post pics. Only way to be sure. Make sure you have good lighting too lol. Or you can just wait and enjoy him/her until you find eggs.

My male has the same tube and is always like that. Look at my female tube... Looks different is not sharp and pointed back like your male
