His papillae...her tube or his tubeVent ?
Yes you're correct! I mentioned this but the main reason why people want only males other than breeding projects is the infamous kok. My female has a big kok for her size and age as well but this flowerhorn looks male.
I may be wrong but I would lean towards male even with the dorsal black spot. I literally just went to a shop that had two rows of Flowerhorn males and all the papilla looked like that. All my males look like that as well.
The thing is pictures don't do it justice you have to see it in person to tell.
This is not entirely correct. The best indication would be laying eggs but I have females who never laid eggs before until a male was present. They absorb the eggs and don't lay it.
There was a post here recently a guy posted up a picture of a fish and had the dorsal black spot but it was a male! Looked very similar to yours.
Anyways male or female doesn't matter has a nice kok its beautiful and just enjoy it.
Nice argument. One thing I have to add. I had a female red Texas (I thought was a male) divided from my current female flowerhorn. The flowerhorn laid eggs, no fertilizer. A month later the red Texas laid eggs. So I'm sure just the mere presence of another fish can trigger this, not just a male.
I don't think the eggs belonged to him or her hahaha I have a sucker fish in his side and a jaguar on the other side. So I'm assuming it's someone's lol but I haven't seen anything since and it was only that one time so yes I'm still not sure. It's KOK is big for a female to meWhy would he ask then if it was male or female if it laid eggs already.....?
Vent the fish
Vent the fish
Vent the fish
Take the fish out, put it in the Palm of your hand, take a close up pic of the anus and the vent. Then post the pic on this forum. Then all will be settled lol
I vent the fishPull the fish out and vent it. Take close up pics of the vent and post pics. Only way to be sure. Make sure you have good lighting too lol. Or you can just wait and enjoy him/her until you find eggs.
