These fish do so well when they are solo in the tank. When they are solo they tend to pay attention to their owners even more. I have had so many males, that when they were solo, they would swim up and put their heads into the palm of my hand. My buddies would play ping pong with you and hit the ball back out of the tank. Really cool stuff. Don't be afraid to wash your hands and try to interact with him in the water. Some people aren't into it and I respect that BUT I do believe it is one of the many fun things about this breed. They are like underwater dogs. Enjoy, he's a beauty.

Hi friend.

Thanks for the positive responses. I am wondering if anyone can give me guidelines (based on experience) for amount to feed him. I have been feeding him a variety of pellets twice daily. I feed him until he looks fat. It seems like he would never stop eating if I did not cut him off. I want to feed him in a way that will encourage healthy growth. Not necessarily the fastest growth.

Nice looking RD. As far as for feeding him how long does it take for him to look fat. If I am feeding only twice a day I will put enough pellets in there that it take a minute or two for him to finish (sorry I dont have an exact count). I try to feed 3 times per day when I can, if I do I will typically feed enough for him to finish in 1 minute or less since hes getting the extra meal that day. Just remember if there is leftover food in there later than you need to cut back some, its really easy to overfeed flowerhorns since they are always hungry but a hungry fh is a healthy one

I have a thing for Flowerhorns. Their history is imo, sad. I have one named Broly. He is approx 10 months old, but his Kok isnt as nice as your new buddies nuchal. Gotta watch when using that word lol........This is my buddie. Not really sure of its gender. Been trying to find out about him and Phoenix, my red devil
