Hi I was wondering if anyone can identify my fish. Would you say this is a Flowerhorn variant or a Red Texas? Also male or female? Currently in a 5 ft 600 litre grow-out tank with other aggressive American Cichlids. Largest fish in the tank would have assumed it to be a male as it is the dominant fish. What are your thoughts?

Anyone got any thoughts on this fish? Was sold to me as a Royal Degree Flowerhorn from my lfs that doesn't normally stock Flowerhorns a few months back.

Interesting. I have been told Hybrid in the past at a much smaller size. Any idea on its sex?

Of course it's a hybrid. I assume you mean between Texas and flowerhorn. Then there's what makes up the flowerhorn, trimac and anything else that can be thrown in to create these animals. So I guess I'm saying any opinions you get will be just that, an opinion,a best guess.
According to others there can be no such thing as a red Texas x flowerhorn it's one or the other.
Check out this thread it may help.

Yes I meant a hybrid consisting of a Red Texas and a Flowerhorn. I see I wasn't aware it had to be one or the other or that a Red Texas was made without a Flowerhorn. After reading the post above I have to assume it is some form of Flowerhorn. I guess the only way to sex it would be vent it?

Yes to be absolutely certain unless you see it lay eggs. But we can take a guess here as well. Generally speaking females will have a thicker more rounded abdomen and also more rounded shorter dorsal and anal fins. With flowerhorns the females have smaller kok. Dark pectoral fins can indicate female in some fish as well.
I'm going to take a guess that it's female.

You say it's the largest fish in the tank but didn't give actual size.
If this is a small fish it could develop more and turn out to be male. Maybe some others will give there opinion and help you decide with more certainty.

It is 6-7 inches now. I have a few different American Cichlids in with it which are all juveniles growing out. Including a Jaguar, Red Devil and Red Terror. I am going to raise them all together and remove when needed if aggression gets too high. One reason it is the dominant fish is its growth rate it much higher than the others. I may vent it or just let it continue to grow without knowing the sex. I hope to one day raise a monster like the Red Terror in your avatar.
