In your opinion what is the best FH food that's readily available in the hobby. I've been using Grand Sumo red for a while and like it very much, it was recommended by the owner of my local fish store which Specializes in cichlids and flowerhorns. Anyways what's your favorite food???

I've used many thinking certain food would enhance color and head development. I went as far as making my own blend...grinding up grand sumo, hikari, spirulina flakes, tetra flakes, freeze dried bloodworms & shrimp. Added water to form a paste and rolled up my own pellets. Even experimented with peas, spinach and beef hearts. What a mess! From my personal experiment, I concluded that it became such a chore, it took me away from the hobby. In all honesty, most pellets out there are good imo. Hikari and NLS are up there on my list. However much my flowerhorns love frozen bloodworms, I swear never to it to them ever again....I believe they can transmit parasites. Considering the effort I put into the care of these valuable fish, when they started falling ill, the only source came down to the frozen bloodworms. I found the safest treat was freeze dried bloodworms & shrimps.

Ultimately, a good quality staple diet along with pristine water will keep them happy.

Hi there. I feed my FH aqua master and then tried giving him hikari gold. But he spits them out right after. Is it possible that he just doesnt like that brand?
Haha the sme thing hppened when i first give mine hikari. just keep giving him that.. faste him a bit. but one trick that i used if the two diffrent pellets have the sme color, i first gave my fh the usual pellets .after he eats it i gave him the hikari thinking that it is the same pellet he will swallow it. constantly doing this evry feeding session. now my fh eats hikari, okiko, peas and bloodworms.

Try frozen krill, it improves the red colouration drastically and it also has about 61% protein. Ocean free sells a canned krill which IMHO is the best krill.

I have also used okiko platinum, it shows improvement in color and kok within a week but I don't think it's healthy enough to be used as a staple diet. I just got cz aquas help for monster kok, if anyone has used it before share your experience
