Ok krill 62%, bw 60. That means 61%. How do they get 60% when 25% has no protein, this also excludes moisture which is 0% added protein this also does not include the binders.... So what's the other 10-15% that has to be close to 100% coming from

Just got in some NLS Cichlasoma yesterday -- my Kamfa chowed down on it (as he does any pellet thrown in the tank), but boy it sure is way more dense than other pellets I've been using, it takes him about 3 times as long to chew the same size pellet as other brands, so clearly don't need to feed as much of it.

One part of me wants to try the NLS exclusively for a couple of weeks, to see the effects but I think my fish will get kinda bored (yeah I know it's not a unicorn but neither am I, and I know I would get bored eating the same thing 2 or 3 times a day for too long, unless it was pizza).

So I also have some Hikari Cichlid Bio-Gold+ on the way that should arrive tomorrow; I think I'll alternate these 2 plus maybe some Ionic.

My question to those who feed multiple brand pellets to their fish, is do you prefer to alternate pellets every meal (as I've mostly been doing so far), or do you feed, for example, one brand for several days, then switch to another for several days? With unicorns this can be an issue; probably not with FH's, just interested in others' approach.

One more food question: I picked up 2 kinds of sun-dried shrimp today from the market (meant for human consumption of course). Shrimp/prawns are really cheap here as there's more than a few farms on the island. There's no spices, salt etc. added according to my Thai friends (and my daughter's taste buds), just plain old sun-dried shrimp. So as a treat a couple of times a week do you reckon these are OK for him?

I know that there may be better pellets out there, as in terms of quality and nutrition etc. But let's face it, FHs are hybrids that are breed to be showy. Some of these recommended pellets are base on experience by the user.

At the end of the day, if someone tries out a recommended brand/type, and it doesn't satisfy them, they will keep trying other brands until they find one that suits them. These are only the ones that suits us.

I do north fin one week than nls than omega one (frozen food twice per a week) I stick to these brands

To the islandguy - it doesn't make any difference, what you are doing is only satisfying yourself, not the fish, so do what makes you feel best. :)

So what then is best for the fish, what did u feed when u had them?

That's good to know RD; just for the sake of experimentation what I'm doing since yesterday is to feed him exclusively first on Bio-Gold+ (with shrimp or pea snacks sometimes) for about 2 or 3 weeks; then afterward will switch over to NLS Cichlasoma for sam to see if any difference, which I'm guessing would be negligible, if any.

One thing though: while I knew from reviews that feeding the Bio-Gold+ resulted in less waste, gee am I surprised, even from first feeding, how true that it is. With other pellets I'd been using he'd always lay a couple of nice healthy looking logs 5-10 min. after eating. With the Bio-Gold+ I could barely see any such waste after each of 4 feedings since yesterday.

I'm hoping that means more energy going toward growth/coloration, but also kinda wonder, as I reckon most all creatures need to defecate in reasonable proportion to what's going into them...

Yes, IME I agree with less waste with bio gold, but I do not believe that is as nutrient dense of a food. My main gripe with that formula is the soybean meal, but overall a far better food than say their Gold formula.
