if u aint gona answer the question u mind as well STFU, the fish look ****en demented, look at the ****en fish u ***

they cost money because lots of them look sad.
A good one is hard to find. There are many factors but most desirable factors are in rare gene combination, thus you have to breed many bad flowerhorns to get a few good ones. And all that time you have to feed them and take care of them.
Then, often, you have to ship them to the united states from thailand
which also costs money.

I'm assuming you don't have a very nice flowerhorn if you think it is sad.
Sadly, often a bad looking flowerhorn will be worth less because it is a hybrid, and theres no telling whether it will look good or worse in the future. With a pure species you have a standard life history and you know what kind of future they can attain to some degree.

that is why flowerhorns vary so much in price.

but it is kind of a small question....
I hope you don't think of it as a 'craze' or 'fad' instead of a kind of cichlid-

I LOVE finding more and more posts that prove my point that the quality of information and posting on this site is at an all time low. On any other hobby site on the net, higher post count is usually a good indicator of knowledge and accuracy of information. Not on MFK folks, dear god not on mfk.

i dont get this.... i thought i did but i don't. the OP seems like he is just trolling. i dont like parrots i think personally the common varieties are not visually pleasing, downright ugly. the "beak" ruins them for me. i do like the look of the higher quality varieties, mammon, ignots, darmo even king kongs. but i still do find all of them interesting. Their behaviors, reproductive abilities, variations in the red coloring and the attraction that fish folk and especially non fish folk have to them etc. there was no reason for everyone to get belligerent learn to identify trolls and ignore them. don't fuel rufuskings point. MFK Has alot of great experienced contributors and sadly, also a number of readers who feel enlightened enough from reading what other people posted and google searches to give advice... all in all common sense should prevail. no one comes asking for help looking like a complete tool. Just TROLLS.
