Flowerhorn update (its been a couple months)

Heres a few pics from today, my male beat the crap out of my female earlier this week so hes in the 55 by himself. Not sure if the female is going to make it, she hasn't eaten in a couple days. But here's the ~3 inch male. (I think its male).

One question about it though. When I wake up, his eyes are stark white, and they don't turn red until the day goes on. They are the reddest at night. Is my flowerhorn a hybrid with a vampire?

Thanks guys. I thought it had matured a little since the last pics. This is probably a male right? It has a much taller body than my female. She is very slender compared to him.


Do you think a 55 gallon is ok for him for a while though?

thanks, he was labeled as a "red flowerhorn", but He doesn't look too red to me. Who knows what he will turn out to be.
