If I were you I'd breed my own strain of flowerhorn. Especially if they are illegal there I'd be trying to make them more available to locals. Some of the best fish you could use would include parrots, carpinte, synspilum, red devil etc..

Vieja Synspilum - Red Head cichlid
Herichthys Carpintis - Green Texas Cichlid (Chairel or Escondido)
Amphilophus Citrinellus - Midas Cichlid
Deformed Shortbody Midas X Synpilum - Blood Parrot
Amphilophus Festae - Red Terror
Amphilophus Trimaculatus - Trimac Cichlid or 3 Spot cichlid.
These are known to be a part of FH creation.
Getting them all to breed in the right order and selecting the proper traits then getting them to breed again, and again, and again, and again is the hard part. There are some pretty awesome hybrids you can make from these as well. SRT would be a more attainable goal. They are similar to flowerhorns, only with them you just keep breeding with BP and Green Texas and their offspring until you get a pearly fader with a good red-orange color.
