Could i keep a flowerhorn with other fish? Or does it need to be strictly a single fish tank

It depends on the fish. When they are smaller, you can keep them with other fish. Once they get older, they get very aggresive. However, a lot of people have had luck keeping them with other fish. My brother has 2 8" FHs together. They fight every once in a while but they never do too much damage. But like i said, it depends on the fish. Mine wouldn't even tolerate a pleco

flowerhorns are aggressive. not like jds or green terrors, they can be killers. you could try a female parrot with a male fh, or your texas with the opposite sex fh. you would need to have a divider ready and or another tank ready in case it doesn't work. most people seem to keep a single or a pair but that is it. there are alot of experts on fh on here so hopefully they will answer for you. i am not one of them.

btw, one of my females won't except a pleco either.

mine has tried to kill everything i tried to put in the tank even my 12in very aggro oscar he will only live with the female fh

U can try, I was successful with 2 bichirs, ornate and albino senegal. However, the color and behavior of the fish will not be at 100%.

I rarely ever kept any of my FH's alone. I also have introduced many big ones throught and they key is, to pick right size, and not to panic when they fight as soon as you put them in. Also, keep a watch on females in the tank as when they pair they can a few scuffles.

I tried introducing Herb [my FH]
to his "girlfriend" but uhhh it didnt work out for them.
He beat her pretty good.
So i had to seperate them...
my only attempt at giving him a friend.
But now im thinking about my female BP.

wow. i think i would be afraid to try

My female has killed everything I put in there..havent put anyone new additions in over 3 months. Plecos..thought it would work, but got way too interested in who took over her spot. I think another trick may to move the FH to a new tank, not move someone in with them.
