I know flowerhorn should be kept solo in a tank but is it ok to add in a pleco?
The tank seems a bit dirty without a pleco..
Please advise.. thx

Adding a pleco also adds up to more wastes. These are not for janitorial services contrary to popular beliefs. If I were you, forget the pleco, get another filter, cut feeding and double your maintenance efforts.

yup the pleco will eat the algae in the water but noy the waste

and i had no problem with my fh and common pleco combo
till a neighbor gave an offer for my fh and tank was all for the pleco

Sorry? Dirty? Listen to lupin, plecs are not janitors - they will make the tank "dirtier" as they had a huge bioload when fully grown.:screwy:

I'd say have a plan to do something with the pleco in case they don't get along. I tried a 12'' pleco with a 4 inch female FH in a 55gal, and it lasted a day. She was relentless at attacking him. I moved him to a 30 gallon until I could take him back to the LFS, and it was literally covered with waste the next day. Looked like I had rubber bands in the tank. So, I'd say if you want a pleco for a pleco, go for it. But if you want something to clean, it's definitely not going to make it cleaner.

Are you saying the 'glass' is looking dirty, or waste on the bottom gravel?
