Flowerhorn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I only have short term personal experience currently, as owning a Flowerhorn has only been a 2 week endeavor at this point, but I did research both on and off the forum and am happy with the NLS Float - Large Pellet I landed on. The “Best pellet for flowerhorn” thread on this forum has a wealth of knowledge on this topic.

I found some owner concerns about Flowerhorn Cichlid targeted products that had more protein than was necessary but I’m sure more experienced owners than I will weigh in.

For what it’s worth, Sheriff gives the NLS pellets two fins up for taste when I feed it!

Since FHs are a hybrid of at least 2 species. Usually
one an Amphilophine (and omnivore), and
one a Vieja (predominently vegetarian)
any high quality pellet with a percentage of vegetable material such as Spirulina, will work.
Using only high protein food could short change the Vieja side.

Variety. Feeding just one food only is never the best plan. As mentioned, I stay away from too much high protein and make sure there's a veggie component. Currently I'm rotating through NLS Algaemax, Northfin veggie, NLS cichlid, Northfin cichlid, NLS Thera A, Northfin Krill gold, and NLS Ultra Red.
