I'm not seeing fading on this guy. If the scales are literally missing then it's a wound not fading. Fading won't cause scales to fall out leaving bare spots.
I know sometimes when fading begins it looks like the fish is beat up but its actually its pigment changing if you think its getting beat up divide it off or put it in its own tank to see what happens
Hey loureyes how old is the fish in your avatar? How big is he also? Looks a lot like my fish... I just hope he doesn't have too many issues with the five star general before I get rid of my 5 star... I was sure they were either squabbling or the EBJD's were picking on him but they don't usually show much aggresion unless the males pushing his way around the dinner table... Can I expect a lot of color change from a flowerhorn like a ZZ from 4 inches to adult size?
Nice thread! That fish looks alot like mine does... hopefully he will show some good color i will keep updates on him and post if he continues to peel and changes color. How big does a flowerhorn actually get? I've never seen an adult in real life. Will they grow as large as a red devil does?
anywhere from 8-13+ inches given whether it's female or male, genetics, etc... there have been some bigger I'm sure, you just don't see them posted with measurements as often as smaller ones.
Whats the biggest Green Terror male you have seen? About twelve yrs ago in Spokane a pet store had one in a display tank that was probably 10 inches and mean as hell. Attacked the glass at every passing body and shadow it saw!
