Flowerhorns lifespan

Which? In my opinion real red devils are kind of messy with their markings. I would go with a NICE Midas. (By the way, it's hard enough to even identify a real red devil anyway - I don't think anyone has ever solved that mystery 100 percent)

wow, never thought of breeding with midas. you ever see anyone do it successfully? n will my female actually attempt to breed with one? some of these pics im finding of midas are pretty sweet.

Not sure how to be definite about a red devil, but every picture of a "real" one seems to be a relatively ugly patterned fish - orange or yellow with these unsightly black marks all over it. (Not elegant, in other words) Midas take the cake in this aspect. They sometimes do have black, but when they do, it looks gorgeous. I am raising a 2 inch HOT PUMPKIN ORANGE male Midas, and just 2 days ago his FINS started turning black. Quite stunning.
I don't see why your sexy girl won't breed with ANY male Cichlid within reason. Midas are not hybrids, so there are no fertility issues whatsoever. Midas are also one of the parents of some of the flowerhorn types to boot.

The trick to a nice Midas? DON'T LAUGH.... PETSMART.

For some odd reason they always have HOT AS ALL GET OUT Midas. Do let me know what you pick up! (2-3 inchers - males already have the long fin tips and are bossing the others, at this point.)

i figured they would honestly. im pickin up some tinfoil barbs from there as well cuz there the cheapest i've seen around. like 2 bux a barb n there decent size. ill keep my eye out for a really really nice one, hopin to find one atleast 3" or bigger so i dont have to raise it too long b4 the attempt.

They always have the 1 inchers, and then some 2 1/2 inchers (Which is what I got.) I say go for one of those. You won't have to wait all that long. Better to pick out the one you like. That is what I did - and man, I'm telling ya... This fish is HOT. (How many times have I said that? lol) They do not usually have the next size up. They go for $7.99 (You can find cheaper elsewhere, but not as nice)

I have also heard that flowerhorns only live for a short time..... etnics I think the video you posted is a Trimac and not a flowerhorn. Or it maybe a flowerhorn with a lot of Trimac blood in him. That almost looks exactly like a pure Trimac.

I hear 4-5 years average. but considering they are a cross of CA cichlids... they should be perfectly capable of their lifepsans no? And for someone to have a flowerhorn for 12 years and live in america... hard to believe for me, considering they just started being created in malaysia in the 90's and the flowerhing "boom" was in 2003.. but why not

hmm, i doubt its a trimac. my friend got it from his girlfriends dad who is a hardcore fh keeper. he kept it for the first 10 years, then gave it to my friend.
