Okay my female Red Dragon was fighting my new Escondido , few days later her egg tube was down and he fertilized the eggs . Problem is these fishes do fight for many reasons one being a new fish in is territory. Try Egg Crate and cute a small portion in the eggcrate so the female can go on the anytime she wants either to play with him or hide from him. This hole with allow her to go thru but not him. Also put Clay Pot or plate on his side so she will go there to lay the eggs.

If you wanna get them in love start feeding her Krill , Brine Shrimp , High Protein food , followed by raising the water temp up 2 temps , I raise my pretty high to 83-84 and it triggers them. To be safe raise yours no more than 81 . My fishes are always in higher temps to start with.

Hope this helps ...:headbang2

cool, i remove the divider during the day and they seem to be cool with each other. REally they can destroy those dividers? Crazy fish lol. I cant do that trick with the hole seeing the female is larger than the male. Im going to get a terracotta pot today and see what happens

if they stopped fighting then you might have some "MAGIC" happening within your tank. however it might be just a matter of time before they continue the fighting. you'll have to really keep an eye on them. females are quite nasty when they want to be. especially if she drops eggs and don't accept the male. good luck whatever you do.
