Flowing Galaxy(Channa Asiatica)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd love to get my hands on a group of them with the red coloration .

Here's my girl she has no red at all , when in the mood to show the barring it's more beige/yellowish but she sure matches the flowing galexy name !

Beautiful girl! She's a little fat and looks ready for be a mama.I'm curious how you get her?
Thanks! And yes she's a heavy weight but it's not fat, that's just the shape of a big mature female. Most of my channa are quite lean. The older females really bulk up around 3-4 years of age . Believe it or not she very rarely eats. At her age she's done growing and gets an average of one monthly small meal maybe 5-6 meal worms or one or 2 pellets depends on what I'm feeding the others that day. The only other food would be the odd spider or fly that falls into the tank or the pond snails that she finds in the plants . and yet with almost no food consumption she maintains that heavy weight!

I got her about 6 years ago originally I came across a group of 5 fry in a shop , supplier confirmed they were WC from china but they couldn't provide me with anything more specific then that .

I raised the group for a few months until a pair formed and killed the others. Unfortunately she killed her male as well during the first breeding and She's been solo ever since!

I'd love to breed her but thats unlikely ,the species is impossible to find here in canada and she's been solo for roughly 5 years . I'm sure if I introduced a male she'd rip him in half instantly.

Im always looking for more though ! I'll try again to raise out new pairs some day when I find them .

She's the lucky one.Asiatics are very aggressive, unsociable and it's too hard to pair them. The diet you prepare for her is very smart, insects and shrimps are favorite.
I'm so glad that you can cherish her, cause they are rare in China now.As they are not important economically, the population of them is decreasing these years.Maybe someones are still breeding them in south China. Good luck to you and also to her.
