Fluidized bed filter

This guy used pool filter sand.

It might be a bit larger so room might be a factor. The pool filter probaly is set up to back wash easily which could be very useful.

Thanks for the answers guys, would it be better to just order a pool sand filter though? I mean for 50 more bucks i can filter 4000 more gallons..

You do understand these are two different types of filters.
Right?

A pool sand filter is a mechanical filter which over time may do some biological filtration but does not have a fluidised moving bed like a FBF.

hm i thought the drum sand filters where for biological only. Thats what my lfs and the ebay things state..... at least i think...Well FB900 boys!!
