I just noticed several white "worm-like" things attached to the fins of my TX Cichlids. They've been doing some serious bottom scratching lately too. Whats the best way to rid myself of these things? I'm guessing flukes or anchor worms? Anyone?
First determine if it is anchor worms or flukes, leeches, etc., then treat with the appropriate med. Try anchors away if it is anchor worms, or parasite clear for other parasites, paraguard is also reported to work for both.
I'm guessing they're anchor worms. Don't flukes normally stay around the gills. When I first heard of flukes, they were referred to me as "gill flukes". Someone else may be able to confirm or reject this claim.
Do you see any red spots by the head of the worm? Every case of anchor worms I've seen has had some sort of "pimple" at the head of the parasite.
I have little worms swimming around the water and many attached to the side of the aquarium. My LFS owner says it's harmless to my jardini. But I'm seeing more and more of them now and getting concerned. May I ask if they are flukes I'm looking at and what would be appropriate treatment for a tank with jardini and gibbicep?
