I bought the tank and filter yesterday. Today I dicided to see what the leak on the filter was like before I bought a rubber seal cause I already new it had a leak. When the filter filled without power on the water started leaking out each side of the filter where the clips lock the top and bottom into place, there was no leaking around the sceme just where the clips lock it in place. I tryed lubricating the rubber ring but same again happend. Should I buy a new rubber seal. I dont think it is the seal but I could be wrong. When top.and bottom lock into place it doesnt look tightly fitted is this the problem?.

I cannot find any info on this about where its leaking from. It only comes up about rubber seal...

yes, this happened with my old Eheim filter back home and I had to order the new seals from Germany, sometimes it just stops leaking by itself, but replacing the seal would probably be the best solution, I imagine there is a lot of Fluval parts on ebay or craigslist. its funny because Fluval is cheap here but in europe you pay tons for it!

O-rings on Fluvals are pretty finicky. The new O-ring will fix your problem is you indeed have a leak. Make sure not to lubricate the new O-ring with anything. Doing so can actually cause problems

The thing is though, Fluval has 2 small holes on each side where the clips are at. They tend to dribble water when you fill it up and try to get it running. Sometimes, letting the filter run for a day or two will stop the "leak". Another thing is the top and bottom won't always close flush with each other. Get it closed as tightly as you can and if the clips can close, you should have a proper seal.
