i was wondering what u guys fill up the 3 compartments with in dis canister filter.. all biomax and ceramic rings? thnx in advanced

My fluval 404s are full of biomedia and some ceramic disks.

does order matter? which goes on top?

bottom tray = polyester filter fiber
middle tray = carbon/zeocarb
top tray = bio media

IMO the polyester is a charm. i find it filters out small particles and actually buffs the water making it look sparkly.

Nope. I only use those when I need them, I can easily take my fluval or eheim off the tank, and switch them out.

fluval 404 poly fiber, ceramic, ceramic, ceramic. no carbon unless to remove meds.
once a week 25% water changes should take care of everything.
